Reading...

I was able to get a head start on some of the reading for my Natrual Philosophy class. I am now reading Aristotle's Physics and the Commentary by St. Thomas Aquinas. If any of you would like to read those and 'splain 'em to me, I would be greatly indebted!

I have a feeling I am going to be a busy boy!

Fits and Starts...

We are still trying to get settled. One of the things that has been puched to the back burner is the internet connection at home. [sob] We hopefully will be fully connected with a dsl line soon. Until then, the posting may be sporadic as we just can't get tot he computer lab as much as we would like.

wow, what a place!!!

Hey all. Just got here and it has been nice. The area is gorgeous. I hope it stays this way for a while at least, but I never know. If you ever earn enough money and need a vacationing spot this would be the place. I love Austria. Even though I miss Idaho I still love it here.

Last but not the least...8^>

The last thing in the world you wanted to see was a fat guy drinking a beer. However, this is an Austrian beer at the restaurant at the Kartause! :) It was a local beer brewed in Wieselberg. It was very good. Even had some nice hoppiness to it.

There is an English gentleman who works for ITI. He and I have already spoken about flying back to England to "tour the Ales" :). He said we could get a ticket from Linz to London for 60 euro roundtrip! Look out Mr. Porter - Mr. Extra Special Bitter, I am on my way!! 8^>

Byzantine Catholic Chapel

This is the most amazing thing you'll ever see in your life. The entire chapel has been hand-painted by a Byzantine priest here. I can't wait to attend Divine Liturgy there. I think we are going on the Assumption of Mary on Tuesday. 8^>

This is looking to the altar. It is such a small chapel they don't have a iconostasis across the entire sanctuary. But this is awful cool.

This is the icon of the Pantocrator, Christ - Ruler of all. It adorns every Eastern Rite Church.

This is some of the artwork as you look back out of the door. I can't show the 30-40 saints that are painted on the walls. It is simply amazing!!!

More of the Kartause Maria Thron

The inside of the cupola.

Ceiling detail.

Another ceiling detail.

This is the statue of "Maria Thron". It means Mary Throne. It represents that the Blessed Mother is Jesus' throne.

Continuing the Virtual Tour...

As promised, I took some nice shots (I hope) of the outside and inside of the Kartause. In addition, I took some pics of the inside of the hand-painted Byzantine Chapel.
This is the entrance that we use to enter the Kartause grounds.

This is the front (entrance) to the Kartause.

This is looking across the courtyard from the previous picture. The building contains the ITI's library and Franciscan classrooms.

The entrance into the Kartause Maria Thron.

The inside. Belive me it is a lot more impressive in person!

We're HERE!!!

Grüß Gott!!
The Lees landed in Wein, Austria on Sunday. We are settling in well. THIS PLACE IS FANTASTIC!! We will bupdatingng and describing as we get over the jet lag and actually get an internet connection in our home. (I am currently at the ITI's computer lab). I wanted to post some pictures for all to see!
Zach at the Frankfurt Airport.

A small portion of our luggage - just the carry-ons!

The right half of our living room. I would guess that the house here has more square footage than the one in Kuna.

This is the left side of the living room.

However, as you can see the kitchen is a postage stamp!

This is the front of the house.

This is the view directly out the front door.

This is the view looking down the street to the left.

Out the back door.

Out the back door to the right. Nice, huh?!?

Thank you for all your prayers and support!! Soon, I will post pictures of inside the Kartause Maria Thron, the parish church in Gaming, and the Byzantine Chapel.

This Blog...

This blog is chance for the Lee family to keep people up-to-date on a more frequent basis than the newsletter. In addition, it allows us to post pictures and thoughts as we experience Austria.

Thank you for stopping by and hope that you find the time to leave a comment for us!

In Christ,
Mike, Debbie, Felicity, Cody, Zach, and Eli (and the one on the way).

The Adventure Begins!!

Well, here it is the 3rd of August and we are still in Boise! Yep, we had much fun today finding out that our flight to Chicago was cancelled! To make matters worse, we can't fly out until Saturday and end up with a seven hour lay-over in Frankfurt. Oh well, God is good. We'll get there. They say that if something doesn't kill you it will make you stronger. We are feeling a bit like Hercules at the moment! 8^>
